who is behind insight spanish?

¡Hola! It's Álvaro.

Native Spanish speaker, teacher and perpetual learner.

I'm a Spanish teacher with a background in physical education and several years of experience in international schools, online and informal teaching. For the past five years, I have been teaching in Central Europe and now I am about to start a new adventure.

Living abroad changed the way I think about language. The more time I spent outside Spain, the more I realised that a language is not a list of rules or a set of skills. It's a way of seeing the world. That perspective is rarely part of the conventional language classroom, and that's the gap Insight Spanish is trying to fill.

I'm a curious person by nature. I'm always looking for new ways to teach, new materials to bring into the classroom, new angles on familiar topics. Insight Spanish is, in many ways, an extension of that. A space to share the conversations, films, books, and ideas that have shaped my own relationship with the language.

When I'm not teaching or writing, I'm usually moving. It can be running, hiking, exploring cities, getting outside whenever possible. And when I finally sit still, it's usually with a book or a film. Cinema, in particular, has been a long love. You'll find it threaded through these pages whenever I can find an excuse.

If any of this sounds like your kind of place, I'd love to have you along.
